What to Wear: July 4th Cookout

July 4th is just a day away and if you plan to go BBQ-hopping in these hot temps, you’ll want a ‘fit that’s cute, cool and comfy. Our recommendation? You can’t ever go wrong with a maxi dress. It’s a quick and easy way to look stylish without being completely over-dressed for a summertime cookout.

If you plan to be outside for an extended period of time, remember to keep your accessories minimal. There’s nothing worse than roasting in the sun with a huge statement necklace around your neck.

Check out this budget-friendly look that perfect for a backyard barbeque — and under $140:

Peplum Tops We Love

Peplum tops are a trend that’s gaining steam this spring. The perfectly prim blouses offer a classic silhouette made new again with bright hues, fun prints and lots of texture (we recently spotted Gwen Stefani, Kate Middleton and Michelle Obama in peplum looks to die for).

It’s also a versatile piece that you can wear in more casual settings with tailored shorts or boyfriend jeans. Or you can dress it up for a swanky affair by pairing it with a pencil skirt to give the illusion of a cocktail dress.

LWDs (Little White Dresses) We Love

LWDs (or little white dresses) are definitely a spring/summer wardrobe staple. Much like the LBD, it’s a fail-proof piece that can take you from day to evening with a simple swap of shoes and accessories.

They also seem to be a celebrity favorite for high-profile events. How can you not notice a fabulously dressed woman rocking a crisp white dress standing on the red carpet? If you don’t already own one or two, now is the time stock up your wardrobe. You want to be ready for the flood of invites to outdoor brunches with the girls and sunset cocktail parties that require you look you’re most stylish.

Check out our round-up of super cute LWDs — that can be worn to work, for a date night or to run weekend errands — all for under $100.
