Product Review: Aveeno Positively Ageless Reconditioning Night Cream

When it comes to proper skincare, rest is essential in order to replenish new skin cells and maintain a healthy glow. So it’s a no-brainer to use products that help revitalize your skin during the night allowing you to wake up with a fresh face.

The product: I recently tested out Aveeno’s Positively Ageless Reconditioning Night Cream ($20.99) and was really excited about its properties. The cream promotes a natural shitake complex that works with the skin’s natural renewing process to help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It also claimed to be hypoallergenic, which is amazing for someone like me who tests a lot of products.

The application: After washing my face and using a toner, I smoothed some of the night cream on to my face and neck. The first thing I noticed right away was the fragrance. It was very strong and a bit overwhelming. Even though the product absorbed well into my skin, I was concerned that I may wake up with a rash, because of the fragrance.

I waited a few minutes and then got into bed. At that point, there was still no itching or redness. Also, the heavy fragrance smell subsided after about 30 minutes. The next morning my face was noticeably smoother — it was so smooth that I kept wanting to touch it.

The verdict: After using the night cream for two weeks, I will say that it does reveal softer skin after a good night’s rest, but the strong fragrance is initially off-putting. I would recommend this product to anyone that suffers from dry or lackluster skin, but if you are sensitive to heavily scented products, I’d leave this one on the shelf.

Love, peace and beauty,
