I was pretty much on a spending freeze throughout the late spring and all summer long (read about why I did it here). However, with the fall season gradually rolling in, I decided my cold-weather wardrobe needed an update and have been adding new pieces here and there over the last couple of months.
There are so many fabulous trends to try this season and it’s been hard to narrow it down to absolute must-haves — especially when you are on a strict budget. At the top of my list was a new pair of flat boots (I live in these during the fall and winter), a dressed-up blazer, a cape (duh!), a chic sweater coat, and you can never have too many sweatshirts, imho!
Below is a mix of pieces I picked up online for $150 or less. Take a look (click on images for product details).
There are very few fashion items that I will pay full-price for — and great pair of boots is one of them. These beauties from Calvin Klein gave me a Michael Jackson (via “Bad”)/Janet Jackson (via “Rhythm Nation”) vibe and I had to have them.
I’ve been wanting a dressed-up blazer that’s more pencil skirt and slim fit pants than jeans for a while. So, when I came across this navy and black number (which is a major color trend this season, btw) on super sale, it was a no-brainer. The blazer was originally $39.95 and I paid $20 for it a couple weeks ago. It’s even cheaper now.
I picked up this fabulous cape in the black and gray color combo, which is no longer available. This gray and off-white version is just as chic and is a great alternative to a jacket during these early days of fall.
I love sweatshirts and the single white stripe on either sleeve of this Piperlime version is super sophisticated. It was originally $80 *gasp* which you know I didn’t pay.
*swoon* I’d been eyeing this beauty for a while, but at it’s original $80 pricetag it was definitely a want item and not a need. But when it went on sale for 50% off . . .
