3 Beauty Hacks to Try

I shudder to think of the hours I’ve lost shuffling through lists of lifehacks — clever tricks that use what you already have (and more than likely never ever thought to use) to get things done. But  my favorite hacks are the ones that help me solve my beauty dilemmas — without breaking the bank. Here are three of my absolute favorites:

Punch Up a Pore Strip

I recently discovered this genius trick (thanks, Beautylish!) and I decided to give Biore pore strips another chance. I’d given up on them because, while it’s very fun to make a papier mache mask of your nose, they never really seemed to work. This hack is super simple — you use water, baking soda and cotton pads to punch up your standard-issue pore strip. Just mix some baking soda with water and leave it to set on your nose underneath some cotton pads. Then do the Biore strip routine as you normally would. I’ve lucked out with pretty great skin, but blackheads are my mortal enemy. I noticed a serious difference after trying this.

Prime Your Pout

I’ve lost count of the number of YouTube tutorials I’ve seen where beauty mavens use Eos lip balm to prime their lips. These little spheres cost around three bucks at your local drugstore and in addition to being adorable, they boast all-natural ingredients. The balm serves as a smooth surface for bold lip colors.

Mess-Free Manis

I’ve copped to using a sort-of painter’s tape for my nails, but the truth is I don’t even need that magical tube to keep my manis flawless. Keep a thin paintbrush and a capful of your favorite liquid nail polish remover (I like Zoya). Paint your nails as you normally would (like a 5-year-old, in my case) and then go over the edges with your paintbrush. Easy peasy.

Stay beautiful,
