What I Bought…

I’m typically an online shopper, but this go-round four of the five items I’m gushing over this month I picked up in-store (oh, the dangers of having lots of places to shop near the office). I focused mostly on accessories, because let’s face it  — they’re just as important as the clothes.

What I Bought... April 2013

THE DETAILS:

1. I’m usually a trouser pant kind of girl (totally into classic silhouettes), but lately I’ve been really into slim fit pants. The last time I shared my recent buys, I’d picked up a mint green pair from TJ Maxx and this time purchased these Julie Straight Leg Pants in Mid-Weight Scuba (in starburst coral)  from LOFT.com. They were originally $79.50, but I happened to stumble upon them when the site was having a 40% sale (on top of the pants already being marked down), so I ended up paying $29.99 plus shipping. I’ve yet to wear them, but I definitely see a pair of heeled sandals — perhaps, in a crazy cool multi-print — in my very near future, which I will most definitely be wearing with these pants.

2. Whenever I’m looking for cute statement jewelry that’s unique and reasonably priced, I’ll hit up Macy’s. The department store always has a clearance costume jewelry sale going on. While perusing the sale items one evening after work, these RACHEL Rachel Roy Drusy Linear Earrings (which I picked up in a turquoise hue that is no longer available) really stood out. They looked high-quality, were $17 (originally $34) and you can totally dress them up or down. I’ve got a wedding to attend soon and these will probably be getting worn.

3 & 4. I was in NYC last month for a quick trip and randomly at the Forever 21 in Times Square well after 1 a.m. — for no good reason — and just had to buy something (right?). I’d been looking for a few new accessories to add to the collection for spring, so I figured I would pick up a piece or two and got the Layered Bead Necklace ($10.80) and Pyramid Faux Jade Ring ($3.80, no longer available online). I don’t plan on wearing them together (way too matchy-matchy), but I will mix them in separately with other pieces I already own.

5. I’m a commuter who does lots of walking, so wearing heels all the time is absolutely not an option (and just plain ridiculous, in my opinion). That’s why it’s a must that I keep a line-up of cute flats to walk around in while I’m hustling to and from work. These Alfani ‘Kristine’ Wedges I picked up at Macy’s looked so sleek thanks to the patent leather cap toe and faux croc print — I had to have them. I paid about $52 for the shoes on sale a couple weeks ago, but they were originally $69. The description says there’s a one-inch wedge, but I honestly cannot feel it or tell a difference in my height when wearing them. I got the shoes in the navy blue color (which is no longer available online) and they look great with printed pencil skirts, trouser pants and, even, jeans.

Keep it stylish,
