Designer Trends, Budget-Friendly Style

May is here (can you believe it?!?!) and if you haven’t already, ladies, it is definitely time to update your spring wardrobe.

While bright colors, funky patterns and feminine dresses are all the rage, we here at Stylin’ & Profilin’ believe you can get high-end style without spending your last dime.

And as each season passes, it seems more couture designers are jumping on the recessionista bandwagon by creating collections for discount stores like Target and Kohl’s — bringing the haute-ness to everyday women.

Here are a couple of our favorites lines:

Matthew Williamson for H&M

When H&M announced late last year that they were teaming up with one of the fashion industry’s “it” boys Matthew Williamson for a super trendy (and limited time only) line, fashionistas everywhere perked up.

The first installment launched on April 23 and had all the fly girls going cookoo for Matthew when doors opened to lines of eager shoppers.

It’s obvious that many of the designs were inspired by his Spring ’09 collection — from tailored suits in electrifiying hues to flirty dresses in graphic prints.

If you missed the first wave, be sure to visit H&M on May 14. That’s when the summer collection hits the racks.

And that’s exactly what industry veteran Norma Kamali brings to her line for Walmart.
