9 Pairs of Tailored Shorts You’ll Love

A cute pair of tailored shorts — and we’re not talking denim — pull double duty. Not only do they help you beat the heat, but they also kick up the style factor on your summer looks. Try a pair in a trendy print (think: stripes or ikat) or with sophisticated details (think: leather trim or belted).

Another plus? You can easily dress them up or down. By swapping your flat sandals for a heeled pair, your look can go from dressy casual to date night in a matter of minutes.

Check out our top tailored short picks for under $60:

What to Wear… Summer Wedding

When getting dressed for a wedding — especially in the summertime — remember that you have sooooo many more options than a basic LBD or some other dark colored dress. From bold brights to pretty pastels to chic neutrals, think outside the box when putting your look together. As long as you’re not wearing all-white (off-white in moderation is OK — think: color-blocking) or the colors of the wedding party, just about anything goes.

What to Wear: July 4th Cookout

July 4th is just a day away and if you plan to go BBQ-hopping in these hot temps, you’ll want a ‘fit that’s cute, cool and comfy. Our recommendation? You can’t ever go wrong with a maxi dress. It’s a quick and easy way to look stylish without being completely over-dressed for a summertime cookout.

If you plan to be outside for an extended period of time, remember to keep your accessories minimal. There’s nothing worse than roasting in the sun with a huge statement necklace around your neck.

Tracy Reese for Anthropologie’s “Made in Kind”

Designer Tracy Reese is best known for her feminine frocks — go-to pieces for weddings, garden parties, downtown soirees and just about everything in between. Her clothes are the perfect mix of fashion and function incorporating flirty prints and classic silhouettes with a touch of trend.

Reese has teamed up with Anthropologie for a seven-piece capsule collection. It consists of dresses only and was inspired by botanical photography and artist Freida Kahlo. “In every collection, I try to create dresses that suit different personalities and body types,” Reese mentioned on the retailer’s Web site, “so that women everywhere can find something that suits them — and this collection is no different.”

The line is part of the retailer’s “Made in Kind” series, which features designs from Byron Lars, Karen Walker and Gregory Parkinson, and is available exclusively on Anthropologie.com. Prices for Tracy Reese’s collection range from $248 to $298.
