All of the recent designer/mass retail collaborations and high-end fashion houses creating lower cost lines has made it it easier for the fashion-obsessed on a budget to incorporate trends and buy quality pieces without going broke. The down side to that sometimes is walking around with a dress or jacket that 20 other people own.
A tip to stand out: Try scouring the ‘net for fashionable finds. There are plenty of sites — from the more obscure to well-known — that offer pieces in limited quantities or are web exclusives.
Here are a couple of online-only fashion shops on our radar (and why we think they’re cool).
Custom Made
One size doesn’t necessarily fit all, but Eshakti.com definitely caters to women of all body types.
Why we like it: The site’s tag line reads “beautiful in every shape and size” and with cute shift dresses, blouses and pants that go up to size 26 every girl can find something here. Another plus? Just about every item they offer is customizable to fit your curves for an extra $7.50. There’s also an overstock section with stylish items always on sale (and we mean the good stuff).
Something Different
ModCloth.com offers a range of retro- and vintage-inspired pieces by indie labels you won’t find at the mall.
Why we like it: Throwback style is always in. The site offers lots of vintage-y finds — from LBDs to swimwear. And whether you spend $50 or $250, ModCloth’s shipping rate is always $7. For those that shop often online, having a $20 shipping/handling fee tacked on to your order is enough to make you empty your shopping cart. The site also has a blog full of street style, home decor/lifestyle tips and indie music. Very cool!
QUESTION OF THE DAY: Have you used either of these sites? Share your shopping experience in the comments section.
