The Look for Less: Olivia Palermo

I often find myself scouring the Internet or old magazines for fashion inspiration that helps me with everything from crafting blog posts to updating my wardrobe as the seasons change to even decorating my new home. One person who always shows up in my stack of magazine clippings or who’s pics get bookmarked in my browser is reality TV personality-turned-fashion maven Olivia Palermo.

She always seems to get it right. From playing with proportions to mixing prints to layering textures, Palermo takes fashion risks without it looking too gimmicky or trendy.

During one of my regular fashion-spiration binges online, I came across the pic to the right of her on InStyle.com. She showed up to Valentino’s show during Paris Couture Fashion Week wearing a crisp, white button down blouse and a black and orange color-blocked skirt by Valentino, which she paired with some black-and-white printed ankle-strap  sandals and fringed clutch in a gorgeous Kelly green hue.

Naomie Harris was the epitome of sophisticated elegance dressed in a silver and black Vivienne Westwood jacquard print dress, while attending the designer’s launch event with Virgin Atlantic. Alessandra Ambrosio rocked a long-sleeved LWD (with pockets!) by Valentino to the GREAT Britain reception. Heidi Klum showed off her never-ending legs in a cap sleeve body-skimming red sheath dress, while out and about in NYC.

The Stylish Vote: Regina Hall, Kerry Washington, Jessica Alba

Regina Hall rocked a fun and sexy party look dressed in a black-and-white structured blazer with a plunging neckline, matching shorts, a wide black leather belt and black-and-white printed sandals with a tassel detail to the Hollywood premiere of “Think Like a Man, Too.”

Kerry Washington stepped out on the red carpet for the first since giving birth looking fabulous. The actress wore a printed multi-colored Sportsmax dress with orange cap toe stiletto pumps at the Women in Film’s 2014 Crystal + Lucy Awards in Los Angeles. Jessica Alba took her ladylike style up a notch by pairing deep orange Preen full midi-length skirt with a matching crop top with a deep v-neck.

Lupita Nyong’o wowed in a super chic color-block Calvin Klein column dress paired strappy sandals, a pill box clutch and minimal jewelry, while attending the Maui Film Festival. Solange Knowles wore a gorgeous fuschia pant suit by Gucci that she rocked with green chandelier earrings, a pearlescent clutch and gold ankle strap sandals at the designer’s beauty launch event in New York. Jaime King showed off some skin in a black Kate Ermilio long-sleeved crop top and midi-length skirt with a high slit at the Christian Louboutin cocktail party in NYC.

From a glitzy party girl to a demure red carpet princess, these celebrity fashionistas nailed their looks: Lupita Nyong’o slayed in a navy sequined strapless Calvin Klein dress with cutouts and silver ankle strap sandals at the IFP Women in Film party in Cannes, France.

Cate Blanchett looked ethereal in an ivory one-shoulder Ralph Lauren gown paired with oversized chandelier earrings and a nude and gold clutch at the Royal Marsden charity event in London. Frieda Pinto was floating on air on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in a blush feathered Michael Kors gown.
