Fab Finds Under $100: Loafer Pumps

29 Sep

Loafer-inspired pumps are big for fall — the taller the heel, the thicker the platform, the better. It’s continuing with the menswear trend that has been major for the last couple of seasons.

This pair we found on Endless.com by Nine West are sooo autumnally cool: Their chocolate brown color begs to be paired with other rich hues like navy, purple, orange and mustard yellow. And the gold buckle and studs, strap and stitching detail give these heels a feminine touch. A camel-colored knit poncho, skinny jeans and a large satchel would pair perfectly.

The Stylish Vote: Selita Ebanks, Rosie Huntington-Whitley, Rosario Dawson

Who says you can’t wear white after Labor Day? These ladies were white hot on the red carpet dressed in full-length gowns in the goes-with-everything hue.

Selita Ebanks rocked a strapless white and silver gown with a graphic print, keyhole cut-out and a jeweled clutch while at the New Yorkers for Children Fall Gala.  All covered up but still showing lots of skin, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore a full-length gown with a plunging neckline, embroidered waist, silver metallic stillettos and a black fur throw to the Moet & Chandon Etoile Awards Ceremony.

And Rosario Dawson went for a more modern look dressed in a jersey-twill gown with a lace overlay, sky-high split and red suede platform pumps, while at the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation’s annual gala.

**UPDATE** This poll is closed. Rosie Huntington-Whitley is the Stylin’ Chick of the Week.

Fall Fashion 2011: 5 Must-Have Items

26 Sep

Store away those strappy maxi dresses and put up the gladiator sandals, because fall fashion is in full swing. We’ve rounded up five of our favorite trends from this season that we think you should give a try.

Check out our top picks:

1. Something Red

Quite possibly the “it” color of the season, red — from cherry to crimson to cranberry — is an absolute must-have for fall. At this year’s Emmys, it was a sea of red on the red carpet, as many celebs got a a jumpstart on the color trend.

Add a pop of color to your wardrobe in an unexpected way: Try a handbag, a pair of trouser pants or a pencil skirt in the bold hue.

Red is also a great color to incorporate with the color-blocking trend that’s continuing into fall (remember Solange Knowles’ fab sweater that sent the interwebs into a fashion frenzy?).

2. Poncho-Style Sweater

Clothing inspired by the 1970s was everywhere at the F/W 2011 runway shows — from Marc Jacobs to Diane von Furstenberg. There were lots of knits, wide-leg trousers, jersey wrap dresses and midi-length skirts.

For fashionistas looking to rock this trend without spending a fortune, it has trickled down to several of your favorite budget-friendly shops, including H&M and Asos.

Think texture when wearing it: mixing knits, leathers, corduroys, jersey knits and lace. This camel-colored poncho sweater by H&M is an easy way to give the style a try without going overboard.

3. Solid Metal Jewelry

Another nod to the disco era, solid metal jewelry — collar necklaces, gold cuffs and knuckle rings — are a big accessory trend. Many of the looks at Michael Kors‘ fall show were styled using these luxe pieces.

Because these accessories are so bold, it can be very easy to overdo it. So opt for a piece or two — two gold cuffs worn on either wrist or a collar necklace paired a knuckle ring — at a time.

4. Wedge Bootie

If you can only afford to buy one pair of boots this fall, a wedge bootie should definitely be it. They give you the height of a high heel, minus the pain — and are extremely versatile.

You can wear them with your mini-, midi- or maxi-length skirts. They look great with trouser pants or jeans (skinny, trouser-style or straight leg).

Your jersey-knit and sweater dresses will thank you when you wear these two together.

With a suede and leather pair like the ones featured, just imagine the printed opaque tight combinations you could create.

5. Trench Coat

A wardrobe staple that never fades out, a classic trench coat is fashion protocol for the autumn months.

There’s something about finishing off your outfit with a crisp tan trench that takes it from cute to chic without all the extra effort.

Throw on a leopard print scarf, a cross-body bag and a pair of fabulous knee boots, and your ready to take on the cooler temps in high-style.
