The Big Switch: Transitioning From Summer to Fall

Posted in Fall Fashion, Summer Fashion tagged , , , , , , at 11:00 am by S&P Editor

As the warm weather season gradually comes to an end, many fashionistas find themselves asking “what to wear?’ during the transition. And while the calendar date says it’s time to breakout those luscious sweaters and sexy knee boots, a balmy Indian Summer may prove otherwise.

Shop in your own closet and repurpose some of those summer go-to pieces with a few fall-themed items. This will keep you looking stylish, in season — and you don’t have to spend a dime.

S&P offers a few tips on how to get extra mileage from your maxi dress, distressed jeans and sleeveless minidress:

Stylin' & Profilin'

If you’re going to wear a maxi dress into late-September, the simple solution is to tone it down. Cover up those bare shoulders with a lightweight cardigan, and opt for peeptoe pumps or flats instead of sandals.

While fashionable, wearing ripped up jeans past early-October is just plain crazy (in our opinion). Before it’s time to bid them adieu, throw on a tunic and some sky-high heels for one last strut.

Looking for ways to rock a sleeveless minidress? Wear it with a 3/4-sleeve top underneath, load up on funky accessories and finish the look with vibrant peeptoe booties.

And the winner is . . .

Actress Nia Long has been stylin’ on em for years. As the sassy Nina Mosley in 1997’s “Love Jones,” her character’s fashion sense had a bohemian chic vibe. And as the career driven Jordan Armstrong in 1999’s “The Best Man,” she oozed sophistication.

Last year, Nia strutted the celebrity catwalk during New York Fashion Week; reminding us that she is, indeed, a style star.

Burning up the red carpet at film premieres, a stunning beauty on magazine covers and heating up ad campaigns with her sex appeal, Ms. Long gets an A+ for effort — and execution.
